Wine Princess’ trip to Tuscany starts from Bolgheri, a village near Castagneto Carducci, Livorno, with Podere Sapaio, a winery established in 1999 thanks to the passion of Massimo Piccin. A 40-hectare estate, including 25-hectare vineyards to grow Bordeaux vines such as Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot.
The wines produced are the expression of this land, Sapaio Bolgheri DOC Rosso Superiore and Volpolo Bolgheri DOC Rosso.
Wine Princess suggests
SAPAIO 2015: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot. 18 months ageing in barrique and 10 months in the bottle.
VOLPOLO 2015: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. 14 months ageing in barrique and 6 months in the bottle.
The crown appearing on the bottle label is nice and original, it represents and honours this noble region that gave birth to its Majesty the city of Bolgheri. An amazing experience!
Who should drink it: Those who love full-bodied and fine red wines.
When to drink it: Served at a temperature between 16 and 18° and paired with red or white meat dishes
A wonderful opportunity: A dinner with 10 friends, order a magnum and go… it will warm your hearts!
God save Bolgheri!
