Great classic method sparkling wines, Amarone della Valpolicella and special cuvée brandies at the Maison de Négoce of Villa Rinaldi in Soave, Verona.
Discovering this fantastic world made me think about all the life and the experience that lie behind a bottle of wine, and about all the other producers who, just like Villa Rinaldi, make Italy so special with their excellent wines!
A long family history, over 100 years, and a passion for wine. Riccardo, the current chief, or “patron” in the local dialect, explains how generations and production have changed over time.
At Villa Rinaldi they do not produce wine but process selected grapes from Trentino Alto Adige that, after ageing in French barriques, become excellent wines.
11 Spumante, 2 Amarone, 1 Recioto and 3 types of brandy, all of them carefully selected and controlled in order to meet the highest quality standards. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes are used to add fine and long-lasting bubbles to all the products tasted.
Barricaia Brut is the most famous and the one that won the most awards. 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay from the Adige valley, aged for over 24 months in barriques and disgorged with the so-called dégorgement à la volée method. The millesimé 2009 proposed during the tasting session is surprising: fine and long-lasting bubbles, mineral scents and proper acidity in the mouth. Perfect with any type of food!

But the most amazing among the bottles I tasted is the new Cremé Cuvée Storica Dry Sec. For those who love bubbles, like me, this is quite a risk, however, its scents and excellent savour are a real surprise. A very limited edition made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, something special to pair with special food.
Who should drink it: Those who love sparkling wines and wish to discover a new pleasure, slightly sweet but with a unique freshness.
When to drink it: Served at proper temperature (4-6 degrees), after 11 in the morning until late into the night! Enjoy it with caviar, oysters and shellfish.
A wonderful opportunity: A visit to the Maison Villa Rinaldi. The elegance and friendliness of this family will leave wonderful memories!
In conclusion…
Wine Princess, given the importance of ageing in barrels and bottles, has found a definition for all the Maison wines:
Quality and excellence always need the right amount of time…
Bravi!
God save Villa Rinaldi!
